Dear Church Family,

Last weekend our government officials were discouraging gatherings of more than 250, and Alberta schools were making plans for classes on Monday. Now, all schools are closed, and gatherings of over 50 are told to cancel. In cooperation with these measures to stop the spread of COVID-19, Meadowlands Baptist Church will be cancelling all worship services and activities until further notice, and the church facilities will be closed to the public.

Although we are currently unable to fellowship together in person, we are thankful for the other avenues that modern technology makes available. Beginning this weekend, we will send a weekly newsletter via email and Facebook to keep you connected and point you to resources to strengthen your faith. We also encourage you to phone or send a message to encourage a fellow believer. We need one another, even if our connection isn’t in the same physical space.

If you were not present with the church family last Sunday, we encourage you to listen to the sermon designed to encourage you in this present situation and equip you to respond in a way that pleases the Lord.

If you have any needs, please contact us. Many members have volunteered to help others in any way they can. Although the church facility is closed, we will continue to answer phone messages (780-440-1195) and emails (mbcinfo@meadowlandsbaptist.com). The pastors and deacons will attempt to contact each member by phone in the next couple weeks to stay connected. Although we will miss seeing each other, we look forward to our time of reunion. Only God knows when that will be.

Keep trusting our sovereign, all-wise God! “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You” (Isa 26:3).

For HIS Church,

Pastors Kevin, Jerry, & Mark

Dear Church Family,

Just in the last couple days there have been many announcements concerning the Coronavirus. The spread of COVID-19 is certainly concerning. Major sporting events and conferences around the world and throughout Canada have been canceled. Although some events in Alberta have been canceled, most schools and religious institutions remain open for now.

You have, no doubt, seen panic and fear in our society as people hoard toilet paper and fight over grocery items. As believers in Christ, we have no reason to fear the future since our trust is in the Sovereign Creator. We have a message of hope and a settled peace in our hearts.

This Sunday I plan to bring a message from Romans 8 entitled “Finding Hope in a Broken World.” We, as God’s messengers, need to take advantage of the opportunity to share hope to our panic-stricken neighbours. We must prepare to love others and even suffer with faith and joy.

Meadowlands Baptist Church is seeking to follow the guidelines given by our government officials and health professionals. For this Sunday, we will only offer our two regularly scheduled morning worship services at 9:30 and 11:00 in the auditorium. There will be no nursery or classes for children and adults. The Sunday evening service will be canceled.

We urge you not to attend if you are feeling ill, have a compromised immune system, have a high risk because of your age or health, or have recently traveled outside the country. We also request that everyone in attendance refrain from all personal contact (like shaking hands). We will not hand out bulletins or pass around an offering plate on Sunday. We are fully stocked with hand soap and toilet paper!

If you are unable to attend this Sunday, you can listen to past sermons here: https://meadowlandsbaptist.com/resources/sermons  This Sunday’s sermon will be posted by 1:00 PM. If you miss our fellowship this Lord’s Day, consider phoning or texting another church member in the next few days to give some spiritual encouragement. This is an important time to point one another to Jesus Christ and His sufficient Word.

As more information is given by our government and health officials, we will notify you of plans for upcoming church events. We don’t know the future, but we know the One who does! Our faith is in Him.

For HIS Church,

Pastor Kevin
