Our History
Jesus promised, “I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). For nearly 2,000 years Christ has been building His church throughout the world. We have been blessed to be a small part of that enormous work here in Edmonton over the last few decades.
In the mid-1990s the congregation of Faithway Baptist Church of Saint Albert joined with Northland Baptist Church on the southside of Edmonton. In March of 1996 they decided to adopt the new name of Meadowlands Baptist Church. A new ministry chapter began on the corner of 23rd Avenue and 17th Street.
In 2005 Meadows Baptist Academy began classes on the church campus. In the same year God used several families to help continue Lighthouse Baptist Church in the north side of Edmonton. In 2009 Foundation Baptist College began classes hosted in our facilities.
The members of Meadowlands have also been instrumental in helping to plant Foundation Baptist Church in west Edmonton (2008), Northlight Baptist Church in Athabasca (2012), and Beaumont Baptist Church in Beaumont (2015). We are thankful for what God has done, and we would love to see Christ continue to expand His church throughout our province.
The Lord has also allowed Meadowlands to send out two of our church families as foreign missionaries. Both of these missionaries have been used by God to begin ministries in Europe and Asia.
We praise the Lord for what He has done! He has brought many people to serve with us, and He has sent out others from us to advance His church in other places. We look forward to following our faithful Saviour as He leads us in the next steps of our journey.
